About Loma Vista Environmental Science Academy

Located in north Vallejo on Rainier is Loma Vista Environmental Science Academy, our school with a farm. This school serves students in grades TK through 8th grade where students will have the opportunity to visit the farm weekly with the farmer, their classroom teacher, other staff and farm volunteers.

While the adopted curriculum matches what we use at our other sites in the district, students are able to make connections in math and science with the environment while they visit the farm for weekly lessons. The farm is a 5-acre outdoor classroom that provides hands-on educational activities involving plants and animals for children of all ages and abilities. The goal is to increase students’ knowledge of nature and nutrition while enhancing academic learning, ecoliteracy, and psychosocial development.

Loma Vista is also one of our neighborhood schools, so lottery spaces are limited and there is often a waiting list. Priority is given to students who live within the boundaries and lottery spaces are available for a limited time in the spring. The school also offers a no-cost Expanded Learning Program daily after school and has limited space each year. Please contact Danielle Brever by email with any questions dbrever@vcusd.org.
